Apply for a Supplementary Signs Installation Permit

This service enables you to obtain, renew, or cancel a permit to install supplementary signs in accordance with the relevant decisions and regulations. It aims at guiding road users to cultural, touristic, commercial and services sites and other landmarks in Dubai.

Eligibility
Governmental entities and private facilities that have a permit from RTA are eligible to apply for this service.
Required documents
  1. Site drawings issued by Dubai Municipality
  2. Valid trade licence
  3. Classification certificate
  4. Drawings specifying the suggested locations to install the signs
  5. All other documents requested by the concerned department.
Service fees

Temporary signs (for 1 month)

  • 100 AED/sign application fees
  • 3,500 AED/sign on local roads and collector roads
  • 5,000 AED/sign on highways and arterial roads.

Permanent signs (for 1 year)

  • 100 AED/sign application fees
  • 15,000 AED/sign on local roads and collector roads
  • 25,000 AED/sign on highways and arterial roads.

To apply for the permit

  1. The customer logs in to the Advertisement Management System (AMS) Dashboard using his username and password, or UAE Pass.
  2. The customer clicks on Supplementary Sign Installation Permit.
  3. The customer enters the required details (information about the Applicant, Owner, and Supplementary Sign Details).
  4. The customer uploads the required documents and marks the desired location.
  5. The customer verifies the details and clicks on Confirm to submit the request for approval.
  6. The customer checks the status of recently submitted applications through the dashboard to resolve any comments or submit additional information (Transaction Log).
  7. If the application is rejected, the customer receives the reasons through email and is notified through the website to reapply if he desires.
  8. If the application is approved, the customer is notified through email and SMS and pays the fees via Duabi Pay, eWallet, or the Customer Happiness Centre (manager's cheque).
  9. The customer is directed to Maintenance Department to pay the cost of installation.
  10. RTA installs the signs and closes the application on the system.
  11. The permit is issued through the system once the signs are executed and the customer notified.

To renew the permit

  1. The customer logs in to the AMS Dashboard using his username and password, or UAE Pass.
  2. The customer searches for the required permit through its reference number, then clicks on Renew.
  3. The customer checks the pre-filled details (personal and permit details) and updates them if required, then clicks on Next.
  4. The customer uploads the required documents and marks the desired location.
  5. The customer verifies the details and clicks on Confirm to submit the request for approval.
  6. If the application is approved, the customer is notified through email and SMS and pays the fees via Duabi Pay, eWallet, or the Customer Happiness Centre (manager's cheque).
  7. The customer views the permit and payment receipt through the Dashboard.

To cancel the permit

  1. The customer logs in to the AMS Dashboard using his username and password, or UAE Pass.
  2. The customer searches for the required permit through its reference number, then clicks on Cancel.
  3. The customer completes the cancellation details and and clicks on Confirm to submit the request for approval.
  4. Once the cancellation request is approved the permit is automatically cancelled.
  5. When the cost for removing the sign is calculated the customer receives an SMS to complete the payment.
  6. The customer pays the fees via Duabi Pay, eWallet, or the Customer Happiness Centre (manager's cheque).
  7. The status of the application is updated within 3 days of the payment.

Terms and conditions
  • If the sign boards are approved and the monthly or annual fees are paid, these boards will be executed by one of the approved contractors or through the Roads and Facilities Maintenance Department.
  • If the customer wants to renew or cancel the permit, he must apply for it through the system 1 month prior to the expiry date.
  • If the permit is not renewed immediately after the specified period expires, the signs will be removed at the expense of the customer in addition to fines.
  • The customer can pay the fees online if the amount is less then 200,000 AED.

  • Question 1: If the customer wants to cancel his application while it is still valid, will he get a refund?

Answer 1: No, no refund is allowed for this service.

  • Question 2: Is the supplementary signboard design imposed by RTA, or can the customer apply his own design?

Answer 2: The supplementary signboard design follows RTA design manual and standards.

  • Question 3: Is there a specific size for the signboard?

Answer 3: The signboard size is decided based on the road speed, and the number of words based on DTCD manual.

  • Question 4: Is the permit auto-renewed?

Answer 4: No, the customer must apply for renewal.

  • Question 5: What are the fees for canceling the signs?

Answer 5: The signs cancellation is free of charge.
