Registration and Licensing Department of within the Marine Agency was established based on law no. 17 of 2005 issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Objectives

(1) Vessel technical examination, evaluation of the vessels and the related machinery and ensuring their compatibility with the approved features before issuing the license.
(2) Issue, register and renew the licenses of commercial vessels, personal vessels, yachts, tourist vessels and public transport vessels after ensuring their compatibility with the safety measures approved by RTA.
(3) Approve and register commercial water activities.
(4) Systematize navigational channels and identify speed limits.
(5) Prepare the requirements for navigational channels and light usage and other safety measures to regulate traffic.
(6) Approve the required measures for selling and transferring the ownership of commercial vessels, personal vessels, yachts, tourist vessels and public transport vessels and inspect maintenance agencies to assess their agreement with the RTA's approved measures and requirements.
